“Alfred's Journey” is the testimony of half a century of photographs in the tumults and joys of the world, by Alfred Yaghobzadeh, 2023 winner of the VISA pour l'Image / Benoît Schaeffer prize.
44 years in the life of a photojournalist, a "stringer", who despite the injuries and daily horrors will always keep a big smile and a tender look at the world around him. The book traces this journey, from his very first image in 1979 in Tehran, to 2023 and the conflict in Ukraine. In between, the thrilling life of a photographer traveling the planet to the rhythm of its upheavals, from the harshest war zones to joyful revolts.
A member of the Gamma and Associated Press agencies, his photographs were published throughout his life in magazines such as Time, Newsweek, Stern, Paris Match, El Pais and Geo; he was awarded a World Press Photo prize in 1986 for his reports on the Lebanese war. This work is supported by the SAIF / Benoît Schaeffer Scholarship for Photographic Publishing, which encourages the creation of a monograph of a professional photographer.
