For this collector edition, five Japanese-inspired slipcases were made, each holding the publication signed and numbered by the artist, together with a digitally printed fabric noren (Japanese banner), a numbered collector card and an A4 poster.
TOKYO DRAGON SIGHT, by Valentin Dommanget, brings together photographs taken over the past six years alongside a selection of digital paintings and haikus created in collaboration with an artificial intelligence. Together they reveal a nostalgic personal vision blending crystallisation, destruction and rebirth — a contemporary story of Japan.
VALENTIN DOMMANGET was born in 1988 in Châlons-en-Champagne, lived and worked in Paris, London and Berlin, and has been based in Tokyo since 2020. His practice combines digital and traditional techniques to create hybrid works linking ancestral references with internet-culture aesthetics. His work questions the creative capacity of artificial intelligence within contemporary art.
