NASSARA means "the foreigner" in the Mooré language. It's a photo book and a documentary project that tells the story of a family’s intimacy, a love for a land, and the discovery of a country rich in history and undergoing transformation. In black and white, accompanied by journal entries, Philippe recounts the years he spent with the family who adopted him, between Burkina Faso and Mali.
PHILIPPE BLONDEL is a documentary artist and photographer born in France in 1999. Having grown up between France, Germany, and Canada, he developed an early interest in identity, territory, and memory. Through an immersive approach and long-term work, he becomes part of the environments he documents, favoring a human and sensitive connection to his subjects. His work explores intimacy and questions the relationship between individuals and the places they inhabit or pass through.
