Four Eyes is pleased to present Philippe Blondel's first book: NASSARA. Prefaces by the artist Diana Lui and by the anthropologist and specialist in African studies Dr Abdoul-Hadi P.B. Savadogo

NASSARA means "the foreigner" in the mooré language. It is a book of images and a documentary project that tells of the intimacy of a family, the love of a territory, the discovery of a country steeped in history and undergoing profound change. In black and white, and with texts from his notebook, Philippe recounts the years he spent within the family that adopted him, between Burkina Faso and Mali.

PHILIPPE BLONDEL is an artist and documentary photographer born in France in 1999. Having grown up between France, Germany and Canada, he developed an early reflection on identity, territory and memory. Through an immersive approach and long-term work, he becomes part of the spaces he documents, favouring a human and sensitive relationship to his subject. His work explores the intimate and questions the bond between the individual and the places they pass through or inhabit.
