LES CHIENS ERRANTS (“The Stray Dogs”) is a study of ferality — the wild state that follows domestication — through the particular case of the dogs of the Atlas mountains, in Morocco. A monochrome narrative, silent and poetic.
FLORIAN SONG NGUYEN — « I began to think about the first abandoned dog, the first one to have lost its usefulness. Rejected by the world of men, yet drawn to it. Then stories of margins and outlines. Of lives floating between things. (...) Worlds within worlds. Spheres that touch, that live side by side. I trained them in the forest of my symbols. The urge to dive into their world and discover how far it reached. And so that night, the moon rose from behind the mountains like an immense yellow disc. The traces of their steps crushed my thoughts, tightening the knot in my chest a little more each time. The red mountains had prepared the ground, and the earth beneath my feet had turned soft. I let myself be swallowed. »
