LE RETOUR (“The Return”) is a book-object, the first photographic project by Roxane Cassehgari, born of her rediscovery of Iran after twenty years away.
Somewhere between a private diary and a photographic notebook, the book deals with the connection to a distant home and bears witness to a feeling shared by diasporas across the world: that moment of return, when you try to reconnect with a heritage.
ROXANE CASSEHGARI is a photographic artist, born in France to an Iranian father and a Colombian mother. Alongside her artistic practice she is a human rights lawyer and researcher. Where law and research let her formulate questions about the world, photography becomes a space of freedom, a more intuitive ground on which to explore what words cannot grasp.
