    “Self-portrait of a woman undergoing assisted reproduction”Bliss (2025)

Prefaces by Guillaume Blot, documentary photographer, and Juliette Prime, journalist specialising in assisted reproduction and fertility.

I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A MOM explores an intimate and often overlooked side of motherhood. Through a sensitive and poetic approach, the author brings to light the ordeals of perinatal loss, of assisted reproduction and of waiting. A necessary book, which will resonate with all those who have lived through these ordeals or accompanied someone through them.

VALENTINE DE VILLEMEUR is an artist and photographer based in Paris. She works on film, often in medium format, and documents everyday life, its stories and its details. After a body of work made in Ireland, Heritage, exhibited on several occasions, in which she questioned the bond between the individual and the land, she now explores, through this first autobiographical work, the notions of intimacy, doubt and resilience.
