Flower(s) — Vol. 1 (I wonder whose skin this crimson flower will touch) is a collection of books about flowers, by Teresa Freitas. The principle: one country, one flower, one book.
In this collection:
- each title is taken from a poem written in the country concerned,
- each special and collector's edition is printed in the colour of the flower in bloom,
- each book is scented with a fragrance co-created with Flair Paris from the flower studied — the fragrance comes as a bottle with the collector's edition
I WONDER WHOSE SKIN THIS CRIMSON FLOWER WILL TOUCH is the first volume of a collection devoted to flowers. For this first edition, Teresa presents the dyer's safflower (carthame des teinturiers) in Japan (Yamagata prefecture). Working first from a documentary standpoint, the photographer has for several years taken an interest in flowers, in the trades that revolve around these delicate plants and in the people who grow them. The publication presented here is composed like a poem, in a more abstract and silent manner, in order to convey a particular mood and atmosphere.
TERESA FREITAS (Lisbon, 1990) is a Portuguese photographer and colourist who blends the genres of street, documentary and fine art. A researcher and active student of colour.
