Flower(s) — Vol. 1
Flower(s) — Vol. 1 ( I wonder whose skin this crimson flower will touch ) is a collection of books about flowers, by Teresa Freitas. The principle: one country, one flower, one book.
In this collection:
- each title is taken from a poem written in the country in question,
- each special/collector's edition is printed in the color of the blooming flower,
- Each book is scented with a fragrance co-created with Flair Paris from the flower studied — the fragrance is available in a bottle in the collector's edition
I WONDER WHOSE SKIN THIS CRIMSON FLOWER WILL TOUCH is the first volume in a collection dedicated to flowers. For this first edition, Teresa presents the safflower in Japan (Yamagata province). Using a primarily documentary approach, the photographer has been interested in flowers, the professions that revolve around these delicate plants, and the people who raise them for several years. The publication presented here is composed like a poem, in a more abstract and mute manner, in order to convey a particular mood and atmosphere.
TERESA FREITAS (Lisbon, 1990) is a Portuguese photographer and colorist who blends street, documentary, and fine art genres. She is an active researcher and student of color.
Prefaces by Inès Longevial (painter), Carolin Ruggaber (floral artist) and Danielle Demetriou (writer).
