Workshop with Jérôme Sessini: visual storytelling and editorial design (Paris Photo)
In this fourth workshop led by Jérôme Sessini (Magnum Photo), William Keo & Yegan Mazandarani (Four Eyes Editions), we will share with you our vision of the world of photography, publishing, and the book market, as well as our skills, expertise, and experiences.
This workshop consists of two phases: the first is designed to develop your visual storytelling, and the second is designed to teach you the concrete and logical tools we use to carry out our editorial projects.
In the first immersive part alongside Jérôme Sessini (5 days, theory but above all shooting), you will discover new ways of writing your stories.
In the second part (2 days, in the studio), we will work on your sequence, your artistic direction, your technical file, and the promotion of your editorial project.
Over seven days at Studio Four Eyes (Paris), you will develop your project and work on shooting with one of the most experienced and respected photographers in conflict zones and specialists in the world of publishing.
Through discussions, constructive feedback, and personalized support, you will be guided in refining your ability to tell stories through images. The analysis of your image choices, including photos that have been left out, will serve as the basis for our methodology. Depending on the nature of your subject, we will suggest different avenues for reflection, help you identify which images work—and which don't—and encourage you to break out of your habits with short exercises that promote experimentation.
The last two days will be spent with Yegan Mazandarani and William Keo, freelance photographers and founders of the publishing house Four Eyes.
You will be immersed in the process of designing your editorial project; from design to distribution strategy, production, and budgeting, you will get a taste of the entire editorial process.
